Long Ago and Today - Hawaii Plantation Village
We can make connections to what kids were doing from long ago vs. what kids can do today! What a great introduction to our Social Studies Standard for third quarter. Thanks to everyone at Hawaii Plantation Village for a fun, educational experience!
Parent Activity
Our students and parents explored the Engineering Design Process in our PLTW module Sun, Moon, and Stars. They were able to build a structure out of recycled materials from students' plans and test out their structures in the sun. Parents also got to stay for a Holiday performance and a Tree Decorating activity!
Bishop Museum
A great introduction to our next PLTW module: Sun, Moon, and Stars
STEM Spider Launchers
Happy Halloween! Our students were able to create launchers with popsicle sticks and rubber bands. They got to see how far they were able to launch a (plastic) spider. EEK!
Math Collaboration
Our students were able to try to solve an addition word problem on their own and then collaborate on the strategies they used to solve. The students were then able to change their answer or fix their work with the help of their classmates!
International Dot Day
Our students participated in International Dot Day by reading the book The Dot and creating their own unique colored dot to join our spectacular grade level display!

Health --> Learning about Germs
Do you know what germs are? Did you know that there are good germs and bad germs? Do you know how long we should wash our hands for to get rid of all of the bad germs? Room F102 now knows the answers to these questions thanks to a visiting nurse!
Some important take aways from our lesson:
Some important take aways from our lesson:
- We should wash our hands with soap for at least 20 seconds if there are bad germs on them. We can sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star while washing our hands to keep time.
- There are bad germs on almost every surface, but we can protect ourselves and others by preventing the spread of them. Remember, keep our hands out of our mouth, eyes, and nose!
- We should always sneeze and cough into our elbows to prevent the wide spread of germs.

Giving Thanks
Our students thought about what we are thankful for in our lives. We were able to create our own turkeys that show who and what we are thankful for!
